Handa's hen

We wrote about a story called handa's hen.

I did well: finger spaces.

I didn't do well on spelling.

The most challenging thing is to write nice and neatly.

WALT: Identify punctuation marks when reading

It can be tricky to use the punctuation and make my reading flow because sometimes the words are tricky which makes my reading slower. 

WAL: Basic facts

On slide Maths I had to count in my head to find the answer and slide the numbers into the middle. 

I found it tricky because there were some hard questions that i couldn't quickly find the answer to. 

WALT: Use a range of different materials

LOOK AT MY ART FOR THE SCHOOL EXHIBITION.

I have used dye, collage and pen to create each leaf. 

WALT: Describe 3D shapes

We know that 3D shapes:

• are solids
• have edges
• have vertices
• have faces

Look at our 3D shapes coming to LIFE on QUIVER VISION!

Caitlin says, "I am learning that 3D shape are fat not flat and they are everywhere."

WALT: Show an understanding of the story

The next step for me will be to use the words to understand the story because I mostly use the pictures to help me.

WALT: Use spelling patterns (-ing)

WALT: Use the space around us

Room 30 have loved going to Youth Town. 

We had FUN, LISTENED and LEARNT some very fun skills like:

• following instructions
• team work
• finding/using space

WALT: Understand what is a digraph?

We have been learning about digraphs (2 letters that make one sound). We have used POPLET to show all the digraphs we found in our reading book 'Did you say fire?'.



Caitlin says, "I am proud when I remember to read digraphs as one sound." 

WALT:Use capital letters and full stops

 To celebrate Mothers' Day we used Tagul to make a note to our Mum's. 

Caitlin says, "I am learning to remember to use capital letters at the start of a sentence and for names."

WALT: Check our writing makes sense

In Writing this term we have been learning to:

• use capital letters and full stops
• check our writing makes sense
• write in detail (more than one idea/add interesting words-adjectives)
• write in sequence using words like first, next and after that

(We had to share something ABOUT ME, and write 2 sentences about something we like. )

Caitlin says, "I used my alphabet card and robotting to check my spelling."

WALT: Use the pictures to help us read new words

In Reading, we have worked hard to use our phonics to segment and blend new words but we have also learnt to use the pictures when we are unsure. 

Caitlin says, "Some words are hard to read but I look at the pictures to help me. "

IAL: How to read graphs and talk about them

We have used the Statistics activities on Mathletics to practice what we have been learning.)

For our Maths Strand this term we have been learning all about Statistics.

We have collected different kinds of data and assembled this information onto the graphs.

The next time you visit our classroom check-out the different graphs we have made on the walls.

Caitlin says, "I will have to count each rabbit on each line."

IALT: Get in and out of the pool safely

We have been learning how to get in and out of the pool using the ladders and the edge of the pool. We know how to use both hands to support us and to turn around before getting off the ladder.
